You’ve Got Mail

Last week there was a package waiting for me at my apartment. That’s always exciting! Especially when you’re not expecting anything… therefore, I scurried down to my front desk to retrieve the mysterious package. They handed me a box and I scurried back up stairs to my apartment to open it like a kid on Christmas morning. And that’s when I saw this:
A sweet gift from one of my favorite people, Cruz. (You know Cruz… I talk about her a lot, like here or here or here.) I wish someone could have been there to see my face. My chin literally dropped as I was thinking, oh my gosh what is this?! Look how cute! Leave it to Cruz… she’s so freakin’ thoughtful. When did she have time to do this?! She always makes time for others… wait a minute. Is this what I think it is?
And, yes it was.

Cruz filled the collage with sweet notes in addition to a card with a contract glued to the left hand side telling us not to feel any Bridesmaid pressure about attending everything, etc. (shocker – thinking of others… as always). Cruz not only asked me to be a bridesmaid, but she did it in the most thoughtful way possible. I mean furreal, I was smiling for so long and so big by the end of reading everything, my cheeks were starting to twitch. Feeling loved never gets old, and this little box does nothing but tell me all the reasons she loves me and why I’m such an awesome friend (her words, not mine…hehe). Cruz is so freakin’ great and I am SO lucky to have her as one of my prayer warriors and best friends. I CAN NOT WAIT to be in her wedding next May and celebrate her and her awesome fiance!!! Speaking of which…
The newly engaged couple came to New York to visit Matt & me last weekend! Perfect timing for some celebrating. We had a BLAST and I’m already bugging them about when they’re coming back. In addition to me & Cruz being the same person, the boys have everything in common as well. Don’t you just love when that happens? A short recap of our wonderful double date of a weekend:
Dinner Friday night at DeliciousSushi Samba, where this took place. It 100% looks like a pear… actually, I think it was definitely a pear.

After dinner beers at a “speak easy” we saw across the street. Not your typical SE, but you get to it by walking to the back of a Five Guys and up some steps. Ha! Leave it to NY.
Saturday I took a short time out of our festivities to work the Junior League Fall House Tour. It was great and went off with out a hitch! I was fortunate enough to work Deborah French’s house which was AMAZING. It was so colorful, warm and inviting… much like her. She’s such a friendly person who has a lived a full and cool life… If you need an awesome interior designer in the NYC area – check her out: www.deborahfrenchdesigns.com
Met up with the gang at Hop Devil Grill in the East Village where they brunched and enjoyed the morning with an awesome drink special.
The Matts ventured to the closest record store, Cruz and I ventured to the Dog Park where the Dog Costume Contest was taking place… the winners?
We then walked around SoHo to window shop, walked around China Town, and finished the night with a yummy dinner in Little Italy. All in all just a lovely day spent down town, sans a schedule. I love days like that. And people who are go-with-the-flow types… aka Cruz&Matt.
Sadly, we woke up the next day to an empty apartment as Cruz & Mr. Right had an early early flight… The weekend was SO fun, but far too short. Therefore, I plan on peer pressuring them every day until I see another flight confirmation to NYC.
Until then, I’ll be scoping all the wedding sights/pinterest/martha stewart magazines for awesome DIY ideas for Cruz’s awesome Nashville wedding. It’s going to be AMAZING and actually you should follow her blog and read about it. The Big Guy upstairs has taken the wheel… not surprising when it comes to someone as awesome as Cruz… Get ready for THE BEST year of celebrating!!!!!

This is so random… I know her fiance! He and I went to Belmont together. Hah! Small world
